God has made us, every single person, in his image. Or, to put it in Solomon's words, "[God] has put eternity into man's heart" (3:11). Among many other things, this means that God has put into every one of us an innate sense that this life, what we can see, feel, hear, touch, etc., is not all there is. There is a greater purpose to our lives than merely going to work day after day, doing load after load of laundry and dishes, going to class after class, obtaining any amount of wealth, or indulging in any kind of pleasure.
