In 1 John 4:1-6, the author calls us to do four things in relation to the spirits we hear:

  1. Test the spirits (v.1)
  2. Know the spirits (v.2-3)
  3. Rejoice in the triumph of the Spirit (v.4)
  4. Listen to the Spirit (v.5-6)
